Ban Chiang National Museum in Udon Thani

Ban Chiang is considered one of the most significant archaeological sites in Southeast Asia and was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1992.

Ban Chiang National Museum is located at Ban Chiang, Nong Han District, Udon Thani Province Thailand. It is around 55 kilometers from the city. The site became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1992.

Inside the museum, there are the displays of the evidence found in the Ban Chiang area and nearby such as earthenware, equipments etc. 

Highlight : The visitors will be able to see the ancient way of living 5,000 years before the History.

- - - - Ban Chiang Museum is divided into 2 sections - - - - 

The first part is for antiques. Here you find anything associated with the ancient Culture of Ban Chiang. You can see ancient tools, household items, artifacts, and pottery items, many of which are over 4,000 years old.

The second part of the museum is an open-air one and it is in the compound of Wat Po Si Nai. Here you can see the archaeological excavation sites and these sites will give you an idea how the artifacts were buried with the dead.

The discoveries at the site, from both Neolithic and Bronze Age civilizations, have shown it has long been a habitation and burial site.

The Ban Chiang Exhibition used to be exhibited in the USA. In this section, there is also a knowledge center and seminar room for the visitors to gain knowledge.

Opening Hours :

- Wednesday - Sunday and national holidays : 09.00 - 16.00.

- Closed on Manday and Tuesday.

Admission Fee : 

THB 30 for Thai / THB 150 for foreigners.
